How To Be Successful By Complicating Your Life

Be Successful By Complicating Your Life

Let’s face it, nothing in life is simple, so why do we keep trying to make it so? Take for example the hundreds if not thousands of online business opportunities, multi-level marketing schemes, get-rich-quick schemes— I could go on. Each of these opportunities and schemes offering big riches MADE EASY.

I’m sure many of you have tried some of the easy way to riches plans out there; whether it was real estate, stock trading, Internet business; whatever.

The question is where does that leave us? I believe for the great majority it leaves us a little bit poorer or deeper in debt. After all, how did you pay for that $5000 “Quick Way To…” program or that $2000 “Easy…” plan?

Losing money or going into debt is bad enough but the worst thing that can happen is these types of programs tend to break our spirit. We lose interest in entrepreneurial endeavors, starting our own businesses, and we become cynical and jaded.

Complicate your life—embrace the idea and move ahead

If we understand simple and easy are NOT what make us healthy, wealthy, or wise THEN, and only THEN, can we move ahead and truly get where we’d like to be in life.

Dan Kennedy points this out in his Glazer-Kennedy Marketing programs. Just take a look at successful businesses such as Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, Federal Express and ask yourself, “Are these simple and easy businesses to own and operate”?

The answer, of course, is a resounding NO!

Each of these businesses has, however, similar traits—let’s look at them:

1. One visionary essentially started each of these businesses: Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Fred Smith. Sure, others were involved but these were/are the visionaries who put each business on the road to greatness.

2. Nothing in these businesses is simple. Each contains complex systems of production, distribution, marketing
and research.

3. And probably most importantly; all of these businesses are so complex and different NO other company can come near to replicating its capabilities.

What does this mean for you?

Complicated Can Be Good!

If you have a business that’s easy to copy, you probably won’t be in business very long. If you plan on building a multi-million dollar business, you want to start a business that’s not easy to mimic. Think unique and complex/complicated.

You’ll need to set into motion systems that may LOOK simple on the surface, but are really complex and integrated with your entire business. A good example is marketing and sales.

Your marketing and sales should include every method humanly possible to bring in customers or clients. Methods such as direct mail, email, content marketing, newsletters—in other words offline and online programs INTEGRATED together, measured, tested and built with a coherent plan. You DON’T want a haphazard approach to sales and marketing because not matter what your business—your lifeblood is sales.

Finally, as I’ve mentioned before, you as the business owner or entrepreneur, need to be the visionary of your business. Your time needs to be spent building the vision and selling your business.

Keep in mind, nothing in life is easy. Embrace the fact that complex and integrated systems are what build great businesses and someday you and your business could be in the billion-dollar club.

Here’s to your success!
