The Ultimate Marketing Plan

The Ultimate Marketing Plan

I received The Ultimate Marketing Plan, 4th Edition, as one of the extras included with my subscription to Glazer-Kennedy Insiders Circle. Originally written in 1991 by Dan Kennedy, he’s done an excellent job of updating the book over the years.

My biggest takeaway is that most business owners “poke” at marketing. Or entrepreneurs have no marketing plan at all! Even worse, many business owners spend large amounts of money on “conventional” marketing that isn’t measured OR effective. If you’re the guy or gal who has bought billboard or Yellow Page advertising and have NO IDEA if it works—this book is for you.

This book is a MUST HAVE for any business owner or would-be business owner who is not familiar with marketing for small business.

The book is filled with tips on how to market with little to no money and also gives the reader four “Ultimate Marketing Sins” to avoid if your goal is to make money in your business.

The book is based upon Dan Kennedy’s philosophy of, “Getting the right message, to the right people via the right media and methods—effectively, efficiently, and profitably.” Dan spends considerable time explaining the Ultimate Marketing Plan as well as giving many examples of business owners who have successfully used his method.

Included in the book are 17 “Ultimate Marketing Secret Weapons,” each explained and expounded upon. Add to this a resource page, bonus chapters, and an index for reference, The Ultimate Marketing Plan will become your go-to guide for building a successful marketing strategy.

I highly recommend The Ultimate Marketing Plan, 4th Edition, for any entrepreneur. It’s available anywhere good books are sold, or you can receive a personal FREE copy by signing up for a, FREE two-month, membership in Glazer-Kennedy Insiders Circle. Just click on The Most Incredible Free Give Ever link at the top of the page.

Here’s to your success!

A Technique for Producing Ideas—Review

A Technique for Producing Ideas—Review

James Webb Young was a legendary advertising executive whose career began early in the 20th century. He was the author of three books,

James W. Young Master Copywriter

James W. Young Master Copywriter

Diary of an Ad Man, How to Become an Advertising Man (both out of print), and A Technique for Producing Ideas.

His last book is considered one of the greats for helping business owners develop creative ideas. In fact, the book was chosen by copywriting legend Bob Bly as a recent featured book at the American Writers and Artists Great Books Club.

In this short, easily read book, Mr. Young gives the reader a 5-step formula to train the mind to develop creative thought. Simply put, his five steps are:

  1. Gather raw materials.
  2. Work out those materials in your mind.
  3. The incubating stage.
  4. The actual birth of the idea.
  5. The final shaping and development of the idea to usefulness.

Working with Weebly

Weebly is a web hosting service with embedded drag-and-drop web building software which makes it easy to put your thoughts into a viable website.

If you’re starting a business or interested in testing an idea online then Weebly.com might be for you. In less than 30 minutes I put together a free website as a test of Weebly’s functionality. See www.kisagroup.weebly.com

Like WordPress, Weebly allows you to test a website, its look, its “feel”, and tweak the site before you’re ready to invest in greater functionality.

WordPress Versus Weebly

Where WordPress.com and WordPress.org are focused on building blogs, Weebly is focused on building websites…but you can add a blog with Weebly if you’d like. Read the rest of this entry

AWAI Bootcamp Day Three – Job Fair

AWAI Bootcamp Day Three — Job Fair

It’s now Friday morning and we hit the ground running with A Taste of Niche Markets” Web Copywriting Opportunities with Rebecca Matter, Nick Usborne, Heather Robson, Lori Haller, and Charlotte Crockett…I have to admit…I slept in. The good news is all the sessions are recorded and the audio will be on AWAI’s website!

AWAI Job Fair

AWAI Job Fair

After a brief Jumpstart session by Joshua Boswell, Mindy McHorse from The Barefoot Writer and frequent contributor to AWAIOnline talked about how she conquered her fear in order to achieve a six-figure income.

One of my AWAI favorites, Will Newman, gave a great presentation on The Single Most Important Secret to Headline Success. I was so impressed with his presentation and teaching ability I made up my mind to invest in the AWAI Circle of Success (COS). Will’s is one of the instructors for this program and I hope I’ll get him during my advanced training as a COS member.

Next on deck was copywriting greats John Forde of The Copywriter’s Roundtable and Jen Stevens giving us a chance to review What Worked … What Didn’t. Having the opportunity to vote on previous campaigns was an eye-opener and fortunately John gave us a great website to keep up with our review…more on this later.

AWAI Bootcamp Day Two

AWAI Bootcamp Day Two

Thursday and day two of AWAI’s Bootcamp started early with breakfast at 7:00 AM followed by a break-out session on Financial copywriting at 7:05. So, I grabbed a cup of coffee and was able to get a seat before the room became SRO (standing-room-only).

The host and presenters, Charlotte Crockett, Chris Allsop, and Guillermo “G” Rubio, discussed some of the fine points of writing copy for financial markets and surprisingly, having a business or financial background wasn’t necessary to break into this market. What WAS necessary was a desire to learn…go figure!

While focusing initially on writing controls for financial newsletters, stock offerings, and alternative investment analysis, I was surprised to find financial copywriting also includes areas such as credit cards, insurance, and other financial vehicles.

Putting Your Business On Autopilot

Business on Autopilot

Put Your Business On Autopilot

When a pilot flies an airplane he can either hand-fly the airplane (control the airplane himself) OR put the aircraft on autopilot and relieve himself  of much of the physical labor required to keep the airplane on course.

In The 4-Hour Work Week, Tim Ferriss points out that the New Rich are a able to live millionaire lifestyles because they have put their businesses or jobs on autopilot.

Having your business on autopilot means the day-to-day operation of your business, or job, is running without the need for YOUR CONSTANT supervision.

After all, what’s the use of traveling the beaches of the world if you’re constantly online, on your iPhone, or in CONSTANT touch with managers, buyers, customers, etc.? Read the rest of this entry

Commission Breakthrough Review

Commission Breakthrough Review

I must admit that today I experienced an excruciatingly painful ordeal and I don’t want my readers to relive my agony BUT…in an effort to bring you what I feel is up-to-the-minute information about online marketing I AM willing to some make sacrifices.

Commission Breakthrough Review

Commission Breakthrough Review

I have wanted to do some product reviews since starting this blog but have been somewhat sidetracked due to the actual building, the birth of my first grandchild (a bouncing baby girl!) and life in general. So the dust had settled a bit, the wife only had some grocery shopping to do (she needed to take me for moral support) so I decided to get on ClickBank and do some research.

For those of you not familiar with ClickBank I’ll do a separate post on it in the future. For now just know that ClickBank is a great repository for those interested in affiliate marketing. Affiliates go onto the site can promote products from categories beginning with Arts & Entertainment to Travel and everything in between. Since this is an online marketing blog and an area that I am especially interested in I naturally gravitated to the E-Business and E-Marketing niche in the marketplace. Read the rest of this entry

MyLeadSystemPro Review

MyLeadSystemPro has been taking the Internet by storm since 2008. One of the first companies dedicated to educating mulit-level marketers in the intricacies of the World Wide Web; in four short years the company has produced hundreds of successful entrepreneurs and spawned at least one other major company dedicated to helping network marketers move from traditional MLM to online marketing.

Tapping the resources of some of the most successful MLM producers and successful Internet entrepreneurs, MLSP brings tried and tested methods of 20th century multi-level marketing into the high-tech, social media-centered 21st century.

Before the Internet came along network marketers were limited in their abilities to prospect. In the 20th century the rule of thumb in the MLM community was to prospect to anyone within arm’s reach. If someone held still long enough you’d approach them, get a business card and put them on their list.

Marketers spent their time handing out business cards, making phone calls, cold calling, etc. all designed to build a list and determine interest in their opportunity. These methods worked but were limited by geography. It was nearly impossible for a new marketer to reach out beyond their own hometowns or anywhere outside of a night’s drive to prospect for members.
