Make Money Online

Make Money Online

I watched an interesting webinar the other day by Jay Kubassek of ProU that brought up some interesting points I thought I’d share with you today.

It seems that in the past couple of years more and more

Make Money Online

people are searching Google to find out how to make money online. In fact, he pointed to a 400% increase in searches in the past two years!

Four trends since the beginning of the 2008 recession have caused many former employees, small business owners, and even business executives to look at how to make money online.

Is it any wonder?

Trend number 1: Underemployment. Not only are people unemployed but many more are UNDEREMPLOYED. How many of you are currently working for less than you were five or six years ago…please leave a comment if you are!

Trend number 2: Online advertising has EXPLODED over the past few years AND more-and-more people are comfortable searching online for items including how to make money online.

How To Lose Money Online

Lose Money Online?—Here’s How

An Easy Way to Lose Money Online

I was at a craft brewery recently while on an out-of-town trip. Located in a small town in the American Northwest, we were told they keep odd hours and may not be open if we dropped by. Since it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon we decided, what the heck, and went for it.

The brewery/restaurant was a converted home, off the main drag but easy to find and best of all, it was open. A couple of patrons were out front enjoying the sunshine and libation. From the outside the place didn’t look all that busy.

Inside we found a nice ambiance, it reminded me of an English pub (I spent five years in England sampling the local ales while in the Air Force so consider myself somewhat of an expert). The staff was pleasant and helpful but most of all the beer was EXCELLENT. Read the rest of this entry

speed. After a couple of laps, however, they slow down and all too often come to a complete stop.

To turn you hobby into a business YOU MUST get serious about your new endeavor.

Save For Retirement

Everyone knows, or has been told, that the earlier you start saving for retirement the better off you will be come the magic age where you can stop working a 9-5 job and begin drawing Social Security.

We are told about the “rule of 72” whereby the money you save for retirement will double every X number of years based upon your expected return on your investment. For example, an investment that averages 6% would double approximately every 12 years ($1000 after 12 years at 6% rate of interest would be $2000). Read the rest of this entry

Facebook Censorship

Today I’m going to link to a blog article form TechCrunch.com by Colleen Taylor. I believe bloggers and readers need to remain informed on what type of “policing” goes on on the Internet in order to maintain a free and open exchange of information and ideas.

We’ve seen other instances of Facebook censoring writers and this appears to be another one.

Putting Your Business On Autopilot

Business on Autopilot

Put Your Business On Autopilot

When a pilot flies an airplane he can either hand-fly the airplane (control the airplane himself) OR put the aircraft on autopilot and relieve himself  of much of the physical labor required to keep the airplane on course.

In The 4-Hour Work Week, Tim Ferriss points out that the New Rich are a able to live millionaire lifestyles because they have put their businesses or jobs on autopilot.

Having your business on autopilot means the day-to-day operation of your business, or job, is running without the need for YOUR CONSTANT supervision.

After all, what’s the use of traveling the beaches of the world if you’re constantly online, on your iPhone, or in CONSTANT touch with managers, buyers, customers, etc.? Read the rest of this entry

What’s Your Message? Does Your Online Message Say Who You Are?

As a business migrates from offline to online it’s important for the business owner to keep the message clear.

What's Your Message

What's Your Message?

That message MUST be consistent with what the business is and what it represents.

It’s too easy for new entrepreneurs to become sidetracked by “experts” touting program after program designed to build you business that unfortunately leads to competing and confusing messages about who and what your business really is.

For example, a landscaping business with a blog may give pointers to its readers about how and when to plant certain flowers. The business owner, after watching a seminar on affiliate marketing, decides to supplement his landscaping business by offering banner ads and text links to her site. Read the rest of this entry

The 4-Hour Workweek Review

Normally I’d reserve my book reviews for Amazon rather than a blog post, but this book is definitely different.
It’s a testament to what I’ve already read that not only have I bought the hard copy of a book but also the audio copy as well.

Originally published in 2007, the book was almost an instant success propelling Timothy Ferris to New York Bestseller status.

I’ve just begun to read The 4-Hour Workweek  but it’s easy to see why it was such a hit shortly after publication. Read the rest of this entry
