What's Your Why

What's Your Why

While it seems like a simple question, how many of you can articulate what it is that inspires you to be in business? I’m not talking about the intangibles we all have, like freedom, lifestyle, whatever…I’m talking about the knock down, nitty gritty, WHY. Read the rest of this entry

Get Organized—Or How to Eat An Elephant

Get Organized

Get Organized

Does it seem like the more you do, the more you have to do? Starting or running a home-based business can seem like that especially when you first start. It seems like you can NEVER get organized. I know, for example, that when I started my blog I thought it was going to be a pretty simple process. All I had to do was get a domain name, set up my WordPress account and I’d be off to the races.

I had no clue about things like Search Engine Optimization (SEO), syndicating, affiliate networking, and the list goes on. It seemed like the more I learned about blogging the more I needed to learn so I spent hours, days, studying the experts, reviewing software, plug-ins, and the list goes on.

So what did I do to get organized and make it a habit to blog EVERY day, learn something, EVERY day, and improve my website EVERY day? Read the rest of this entry

All Work and No Play—Why Bloggers Quit

With over 100 million blogs estimated to be online today it’s only natural that a business owner would question why a blog would be a lucrative tool to increase business. The short answer is that most bloggers don’t make it past three months.

All Work and No Play

Why not?

As you know, the goal of a blog is to bring traffic to your website, give value to those who read our blogs and develop a loyal following of readers. As a business owner, if you have identified your audience properly those followers will, hopefully, become patrons/customers at some point. If you are a network marketer or involved in a multi-level marketing company those followers could become distributors. Blogging could and should lead to a win/win situation. 4 Reasons to Start a Home-Based Business

4 Reasons to Start a Home-Based Business

I’m sure most of you could come up with more than four reasons to start a home-based business and that’s OK. Today, however, I’d like to go over four reasons I find starting a home-based business can be a GOOD thing.

Reason Number One: Taxes

If you live in the United States and work as an employee you are in the WORST tax position you could be in relation to the tax codes. Now I’m not going to go into the politics of how taxes are structured but I will tell you that US tax code favors the risk takers in our CAPITALIST society. Therefore, business owners get the tax breaks.

When you drive to or from work your JOB it’s probably NOT a tax deduction.

If you have a home-based business do you need to drive to the post office, stop by the office supply store, go to a business meeting, etc.? Tax Deductible.

Need to fly to Seattle to visit your parents…probably not tax deductible.

Need to fly to Seattle for a business trip and also see your parents? Some of that COULD BE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

Please see a tax professional, but you can see that owning a home-based can have SIGNIFICANT tax implications. Read the rest of this entry

My How Things Have Changed—A New Old Perspective

It’s been over twelve years since I joined one of the largest multilevel marketing companies and my how things have changed. I’m sure most of you are thinking that the addition of technology is what I’m driving at and in fact you are PARTIALLY correct. Let me explain.

Twelve years ago I got a call from an acquaintance asking, “Hey Keith, do you keep your options open, are you looking to earn some extra money?”

MLM

My How Things Have Changedsome extra money?"

Sound familiar to anyone? I’m sure it does and to many of us associated with network marketing this was our introduction. From there the path was probably pretty much the same; you go to a meeting, see the marketing plan, get a “prospect kit” and go home with your head filled with circles, money, and dreams.

A day or two later you got a call from your soon-to-be sponsor or your sponsor’s sponsor, had your questions answered and then made your decision. The next step was filling out your list, start talking to all your friends and family, anyone who’d hold still long enough and HOPE you’d find someone else excited about selling vitamins or soap from home.

Years ago we joined our MLM HOPING to get rich quick! We were going to sponsor hundreds of excited friends and family and develop a RESIDUAL income that would buy us mansions, Lamborghini’s, airplanes and yachts. Read the rest of this entry

Adding Value—The Key to Magnetic Sponsoring

Not too long ago I was listening to a MLM guru talking about how he doesn’t go out hunting for leads; he lets the leads come to

Adding Value-The Key to Magnetic Sponsoring

him. After I got through laughing hysterically and picked myself off the floor I listened to what he had to say.

“Everyone walks around today listening to ONE radio station,” he said. “Can anyone guess which one that is?” he said looking around the room. Well of course all of us looked at each other with puzzled expressions. There’s NO WAY EVERYONE listens to the same radio station we were all thinking.

The speaker gave the question the obligatory, pregnant pause then continued, “Everyone in this room, in this building, and in this city listen to the same radio station; WII-Fm

Again we all looked at each other with even more bewilderment. We live WEST of the Mississippi river and EVERYONE knows all radio stations West of the Mississippi begin with the call letter “K” not “W”. The call letter “W” is reserved for stations EAST of the Mississippi.

“Everyone in this room listens to WII-Fm, he reiterated, station WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME (WII-Fm)?” Read the rest of this entry

Facebook Marketing Ideas—Reaching Over 900 Million Prospects

Facebook Marketing Ideas

Now from the start I have to admit that I’m not a Facebook guru. In fact, up until yesterday I’d probably be the LAST guy you’d want to listen to about marketing on Facebook.

But then I got an e-mail from John Chow offering a free webinar about Facebook Marketing being presented by Amy Porterfield . If you didn’t know, Amy is a social media specialist and co-authored Facebook Marketing All-In-One for Dummies.

Amy, by-the-way, has a background in marketing with Harley-Davidson and worked with Anthony Robbins two more reasons for me to listen to this Facebook Marketing expert.

A Millionaire Mindset

A Millionaire Mindset

Starting an online business has many advantages over a conventional brick-and-mortar business. Most online businesses, especially network marketing businesses have low entry costs and can be started on a part-time basis.

It’s no wonder then that thousands of people looking for additional income, a way to get out of the rat race, or a way to start a business choose network marketing.

While the low cost, part-time basis can have major appeal, it can also create significant challenges especially for new entrepreneurs without a Millionaire Mindset

Great Blog Content—5 Easy Ways to Get Ideas About What to Write

Blogging is one of the fastest growing, easiest, and least expensive ways to build a business online. Whether you goal is to increase traffic to an offline business or use the power of the Internet to grow an online business blogging may be for you.

One of the challenges people give for not starting a blog or foundering after a few weeks of blogging is the inability to come up with content to write about.

Let’s assume, and yes I know what “they” say about assuming, you have a blog already. If you have used Ray Higdon’s Prospect Target Matrix and have defined your target audience the rest will be easy. If you haven’t narrowed down who your target niche is I suggest you take time and decide who exactly are you writing your blog for. Bypassing this important step will only lead to frustration on your part. Haven’t you had enough frustration working your JOB?

So how do you come up with great blog content? Content that will bring people to your blog? Read the rest of this entry
